
Youth 9 yrs -17yrs Online DBT Life Skills Course
This 12-week group helps young people build emotional awareness, resilience, and healthy coping skills using Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) principles.
It combines education, practice, and discussion in a safe, supportive environment.
What the Course Covers
Weeks 1–3: Mindfulness Learn how to notice thoughts, emotions, and urges without judgment. Build attention, awareness, and self-control. Develop grounding and present-moment strategies for daily life.
Weeks 4–6: Distress Tolerance Understand stress responses and crisis patterns. Learn practical tools to manage strong emotions safely. Build a personalised “crisis survival kit” of healthy coping strategies.
Weeks 7–9: Emotion Regulation Explore how emotions work and why they feel intense. Identify emotional triggers and patterns. Practise skills to reduce vulnerability to emotional overwhelm and build long-term balance.
Weeks 10–12: Interpersonal Effectiveness
Learn to communicate needs clearly and respectfully.
Practise assertiveness, boundary setting, and conflict resolution.
Strengthen empathy, confidence, and healthy relationship skills.

Please note: Group Mental Health Treatment Plans (MHTPs) can be used for eligible participants. A Mental Health Treatment Plan from a GP is required prior to commencing the first group session in order to receive the Medicare rebate for sessions with an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW). Eligible participants may receive a Medicare rebate of approximately $19–$20 per group session, with a maximum of 10 group sessions claimable per calendar year.
