Australia's First National Private Practice Social Work Summit Melbourne | Friday, 28 May 2027

Presented by:
Ashton Hayes & Co Consulting & GBY (Guided By You) Therapy Connecting Social Workers. Strengthening Private Practice. Advancing Our Profession.

Join social workers from across Australia for the inaugural First National Private Practice Social Work Summit, a national event dedicated to celebrating, strengthening, and advancing private practice social work. Private practice is one of the fastest growing areas of our profession. Social workers in private practice provide an extensive range of services including mental health treatment, family and relationship therapy, family law assessments and support, NDIS services, clinical supervision, consulting, education and training, organisational development, assessments, reports, and many other specialised services.

This summit has been created to celebrate the remarkable breadth of skills within our profession while providing a dedicated space for social workers to connect, collaborate, learn, innovate, and shape the future of private practice together. Whether you have an established private practice, are part of a group practice, are looking to expand your services, collaborate with colleagues, diversify your business, or are considering private practice in the future, this summit offers opportunities to learn from industry leaders, explore innovative business solutions, build meaningful professional relationships, and contribute to the continued growth and national recognition of private practice social work.

Developed by Ashton Hayes and Cassandra Gavel, the summit brings together clinicians, business leaders, educators, industry experts, and community partners who share a commitment to building a sustainable and thriving future for the profession.
 Summit Focus
 • Sustainable and ethical private practice
 • Business development and financial literacy
 • Clinical excellence and innovation
 • Marketing, technology and business solutions
 • Practitioner wellbeing and leadership
 • Networking and professional collaboration
 • Policy, advocacy, and the future of private practice social work

The First National Private Practice Social Work Summit is more than a professional development event. It is the beginning of a national community dedicated to recognising and celebrating the diversity of private practice social work while creating opportunities for collaboration, innovation, advocacy, and professional leadership.

Our vision is to elevate the profile of private practice social work nationally, strengthen connections across the profession, showcase the extraordinary contribution social workers make to individuals, families, organisations, and communities, and continue building recognition of the profession's vast scope of practice.

Together, we are building a stronger, more connected future for private practice social work in Australia.

We look forward to welcoming social workers from across Australia to the inaugural First National Private Practice Social Work Summit.
